Nick Schneeberger of Jackson, a sophomore infielder at Hinds Community College, has committed to continue his baseball career at Tulane University next season. He will sign with the New Orleans based school in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) spring signing period that starts on April 14.

Schneeberger, who played high school athletics at Jackson Preparatory School, had an outstanding freshman season for the Eagles, as he hit .359 with a school-record 21 doubles. He also finished with three home runs, three triples and 38 RBI.

Schneeberger, who stole 17 bases in 21 attempts, has also shown tremendous versatility for Hinds, rotating between second and third base.

“Nick is an amazing athlete who has a nice combination of size and strength,” said Hinds head coach Sam Temple. “His versatility, both offensively and defensively, makes him fun to coach and watch.”

Schneeberger will join nine other Hinds teammates when he signs in the spring, as seven Eagles signed with Division I schools and two signed with a Division II school in the early signing period in November 2009.

“Nick has worked extremely hard and has made many sacrifices to earn this opportunity,” said Temple. “He is a very deserving player, both on and off the field, and I know he will be a great representative for the Tulane baseball program.”
