Hinds Community College head football coach Gene Murphy has announced his 2010 signing class.

The class consists of 27 student-athletes, including 24 from the Hinds recruiting district, two from outside the recruiting district and one out-of-state athlete.

“We are pleased with the class that we were able to sign, especially with such a large number of in-district kids,” said Murphy, who is in his second stint as Hinds head man, having previously served as the Eagles head coach from 1987-2003.

“We were able to pick up six offensive linemen, including one from out-of-district, and hopefully this will boost our offensive production next season,” Murphy continued.

The Hinds coaching staff is still hoping to pick up more national letters-of-intent, especially out-of-state athletes. Murphy and his staff are looking for “key players on both sides of the ball that can come in and contribute immediately.”
