Three members of the Hinds Community College football team have made All-State honors, the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) office announced recently.
Leon Mackey of Wilmington, Del., made first-team honors, while Treyvias Alexander of Breaux Bridge, La., and Demetrius Byrant of Jackson racked up second-team honors.
Mackey, a 6’6, 250 pound freshman defensive end, finished second in the state with 10.5 sacks. He also finished with 41 total tackles (38 solos, three assists) and recorded one interception and one recovered fumble.
Alexander, a 6’2, 200 pound sophomore wide receiver, led the Eagles in catches and scoring in 2009, finishing with 30 catches for 409 yards and three touchdowns.
Bryant, a 6’2, 230 pound sophomore linebacker, provided stability in the Eagles linebacker corps, as he recorded 52 tackles (51 solos, one assist) and two sacks on the season.
