10/24/09

The Hinds Community College Eagles football team had a chance to pick up a tie and possible victory in the final game of the 2009 season on Saturday, but a Les Lemons (Vicksburg) 20-yard pass fell incomplete in the endzone as time expired, propelling Co-Lin Community College to a 14-7 victory.

The victory ended the Hinds season at 3-6 overall and 1-5 in South division play, while the Wolves of Co-Lin improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the South division.

Running back Titus Mobley of Co-Lin finished with 101 yards on 15 carries to lead Co-Lin. He also finished with touchdown runs of nine yards and two yards, both in the first quarter, to pace the Wolves scoring. Tyler Fitzgerald added both point after attempts.

The lone Hinds score came on a 22-yard touchdown from Lemons to Treyvias Alexander (Breaux Bridge, La.) with 13:45 in the second quarter. Jared Thames (Vicksburg) knocked the point after attempt through.

Cordell Valentine (Vicksburg) finished with five catches for 79 yards to pace the Eagles offensive attack.

Leon Mackey (Wilmington, Del.) had a huge day for the Hinds defense, as he led the team with 10 tackles on the day.
