Men’s hoops drops two division games

The Hinds men’s basketball team has hit a recent skid of late, losing three of its last four South division games, including two in a row.

On Monday night, the Bulldogs fell to the Pearl River Community College Wildcats, 70-66, in Utica. Hinds was led by Chris Wallace of Jackson, a sophomore guard/forward, who finished with 17 points. The loss dropped Hinds’ overall record to 15-5 overall and 5-3 in the South division.

The previous loss came at the hands of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday, Jan. 28. Hinds fell, 82-74, to Gulf Coast in Perkinston. Wallace led all scorers with 27 points.

Hinds will now have a week off before returning to action on Monday, Feb. 8, when the Bulldogs welcome East Central Community College to town for an 8 p.m. game. Hinds won the previous meeting with the Warriors, 83-62, on January 14 in Decatur.
