The men’s basketball team at Hinds continued its tremendous start this week, winning both games to improve the Bulldogs’ record to 5-1.
Hinds took down Mississippi Delta Community College, 94-83, on Thursday evening and defeated Delgado Community College (La.), 90-77, on Monday night. Both contests were played in J.D. Boyd Gym in Utica.
Chris Wallace of Jackson, a sophomore guard/forward, absolutely exploded on Thursday evening against Delta, knocking down a game and season-high total of 36 points.
Hinds, which held a commanding 45-29 lead at halftime, also had a big night from Mark Wilkerson of Jackson, a sophomore guard. The former Bailey Magnet High School star had 24 points on the contest.
The offense was plentiful in Monday’s game versus Delgado, as five Bulldogs scored in double digits, led by Kenneth Mullin of Oxford, a sophomore forward, who finished with 20 points. Wilkerson (19 points), JaCorey Wright of Raymond, a sophomore guard (16 points), Ananza Richardson of Jackson, a sophomore forward (15 points) and Wallace (11 points) rounded out the double digit scorers.
Hinds hits the hardwood on Monday evening, traveling to Meridian Community College for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
