The Hinds men’s soccer team kicked off the 2009 season on Saturday at Meridian Community College. The Eagles took on Darton College (Ga.) and were defeated, 4-0.
The first contest, which was much more physical and faster than the 17 new athletes were used to playing, proved to be an eye-opening experience for the Eagles.
“Each year we start the season with games versus strong out-of-state opponents,” said Hinds coach Doug Williams. “These losses always help the team and staff get focused on the proper tactics and intensity that we need to play and train with.”
The Eagles get one day of practice before playing Pearl River at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night in Raymond. The game will mark the home opener for the Eagles and Lady Eagles.
