On Wednesday evening, the Hinds Community College Eagles and Holmes Community College Bulldogs squared off in a North division matchup, with the Eagles of Hinds coming away with the 3-1 victory. The game was held at Madison Central High School due to harsh weather conditions in the Metro area.
Hinds (7-5-1 overall and 4-1 in the North division) started the game off with a bang, scoring all three goals in the first 16 minutes of the match.
Marcelo Lima of Fortaleza, Brazil, scored the game’s first goal after the Holmes keeper deflected a shot from Dillon Walker of Pearl.
Parker Ware of Brandon scored the second Hinds goal on a cross from Lima. Lima was also the scorer of the final Hinds goal on a shot from the edge of the box.
The second half saw the Eagles defense play extremely well, only allowing two shots in the half. However, Holmes did score on a penalty kick in the last 15 minutes of the game.
The win puts Hinds tied for first place with Itawamba in the division. The Eagles will return to game action on Monday, Oct.19 versus East Miss. Community College. The makeup game will begin in Raymond at 7p.m.
