Nikita Lisov and Misha Pecherkin, both Hinds freshman tennis players of Russia, recently won the doubles competition in the Southern Regional held in Hattiesburg, Miss. The pair defeated the number one rated and undefeated Meridian Community College doubles team in the finals.  

The victory for the pair earned them the right to participate in the Fall Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national championship in Mobile, Ala., where they finished fifth in the entire nation. The only loss for the two came on a close match to the eventual tournament winners from Fresno City College (Calif.). 

Lisov and Pecherkin responded after the loss, however, and were able to win the rest of their remaining matches without dropping another set, including a 6-1, 6-4 defeat over the doubles team from Meridian.
