The signees are Shelly Berry (Brandon High School), Becca Steen (Jackson Prep) and Melanie Webb (Northwest Rankin High School).

Berry, who has received numerous awards for her leadership ability and skills on defense, was a standout defender for the Brandon Lady Bulldogs.  She has both club and high school soccer experience.  “Shelly will give strength and depth to our team with her strong voice and knowledge of the game,” said Hinds coach Kori Babb.

Steen, who was selected to the Mississippi Private School Association (MPSA) All-Star Team, plays club soccer for the Jackson Futbol Club and Miss. Fire Club, along with being a standout for the Lady Patriots.  “Becca will make an impact on our offense with her speed, agility and accuracy,” said Babb.

Webb, sister of current Hinds player Rachel Webb, was a utility player for the Lady Cougars and will be utilized as a forward and a midfielder at Hinds.  Webb, who was selected to the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) All-Star Team, also played club soccer for the Jackson Futbol Club.  “Melanie is a tenacious player who gives 110% no matter where she plays,” said Babb.

Kori Babb, women's soccer coach at Hinds Community College, has announced the signing of three local area standouts to soccer scholarships for the 2009 season.
