The women’s soccer team at Hinds Community College moved to 3-0 in North division play on Friday night, defeating Itawamba Community College, 4-1. The Lady Eagles of Hinds are now 4-5 overall and winners of four straight.
Becca Steen of Brandon got Hinds going in the first half, as she scored the game’s first goal on an assist from Jessie Dotson of Byram. Itawamba would answer with a goal on a fumbled ball by the Hinds goalie.
Dotson and Steen would put the game away for good later in the half, adding goals to give Hinds a 3-1 lead.
Deslyn Langaigne of Victoria, Grenada, finished the Hinds scoring in the second half with a goal of her own. Brittany Griggs of Clinton provided the goal’s assist.
Hinds will now travel to Jackson, Tenn., to play Union University on Wednesday. The game will get under way at 3 p.m.
