The Hinds Community College women’s soccer team saw its season come to an end as the Lady Eagles lost by a 3-1 count to Miss. Gulf Coast Community College.

The game was part of the first round of the 2009 Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) state soccer tournament, which was held at Tom Shepherd Field on the Raymond Campus of Hinds Community College.

Pearl River Community College was the eventual winner of the state tournament, as they defeated Gulf Coast, 1-0, in Sunday’s final.

The lone Lady Eagles goal was scored by Jennifer Hill of Clinton by way of a Rachel Webb corner kick. The goal for Hill was her fourth of the season.

The assist was the seventh of the season for Webb, a sophomore of Brandon.

Although the season came to an end sooner than expected, the Lady Eagles were able to take many positives from the season, including winning the North division behind a perfect 6-0 record.

Hinds (9-8) was led on offense all season by Becca Steen of Brandon. The freshman forward finished with 36 total points on the year on the strength of 17 goals and two assists.

Jessie Dotson of Byram finished runner-up to Steen in the scoring department, as she totaled 22 points behind eight goals and six assists.
