2013 Eagle Award Nathan Aultman Katelyn Hegwood

Aultman & Hegwood win prominent Eagle Awards

Nathan Aultman (Mangham, La.) and Katelyn Hegwood (Taylorsville) were the winners of the prestigious Eagle and Lady Eagle Awards at the annual Hinds Community College athletic banquet, held in Mayo Fieldhouse on Monday night.
 
Aultman and Hegwood received these awards based on their achievements in the classroom, in the community and on the playing field.

Aultman, a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Dean's List (3.81 GPA), is part of the Honors Forum at Hinds, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the Baptist Student Union (BSU) lead team and was named Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.
 
Aultman also starred as a right-handed pitcher for the Eagles baseball team, where he was named to the 2012 MACJC All- State team and has signed a baseball scholarship with Northwestern State University (La.).

He has also served in many capacities through community service, including volunteering with Melton Veterinary Hospital, leading the junior high boys' bible study at Hillcrest Baptist Church and participating in a fundraiser for the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital, among other events.

Hegwood, a sophomore infielder/pitcher on the Hinds softball team, was named Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges and to the Beta Club at Hinds for her 3.1 GPA.

She has also been involved in numerous community service projects, including being involved with the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life and participating in the Monster Mash at Moss, a co-ed softball game that raised money for the Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital.
