The Hinds baseball team won a grueling four-hour opener in the 2014 World Series on Saturday night and into Sunday morning, and because of the victory, the Eagles were awarded with a day off from competition.

On Sunday afternoon, after a morning off to catch up on rest, the South Region champions enjoyed the spoils of victory by attending a cookout at the home of Stephen and Leah Goeke, who are serving as the Eagles host family this week.

Stephen Goeke, a former Oklahoma State University standout, currently runs the Enid Astros program and has a regulation-sized little league baseball field adjacent to his house where the Eagles spent time playing America's pastime with the Astros.

The Eagles of Hinds also partook in horseshoes, tether ball, volleyball and football, among many other activities, before enjoying a meal courtesy of the Astros organization.

Hinds will now return to action at 12 p.m. on Monday, taking on Vincennes (Ind.) University in a Memorial Day winner's bracket contest.
