Men's track shines at Crimson Tide Indoor Opener

The Hinds Community College men's track team, a perennial powerhouse in junior college track and field, opened the 2012 indoor season in standout fashion at the Crimson Tide Indoor Opener in Birmingham, Ala., over the weekend.

The Crimson Tide Indoor Opener, hosted by the University of Alabama, featured such schools as the University of Florida (ranked 1st in the country) and Louisiana State University (ranked 3rd in the country).

Fred Wesley of Hollandale, a sophomore who had a stellar freshman campaign, picked right up where he left off in 2011, finishing in second place in the long jump (25 feet) and fourth in the 60 meter hurdles (8.10).
