RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Softball team fell to Baton Rouge in the first game of the doubleheader 10-1 in six innings, but the Eagles bounced back and took the second game 4-3 at René T. Warren Field on Monday afternoon.
GAME ONE
The Bears jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two complete innings as the Lady Eagles struggled from the plate in the contest. Hinds scratched across a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, but BRCC held the 7-1 advantage. The Bears hit a three-run homer in the sixth to secure the 10-1 victory over the Lady Eagles.
Kaitlyn Papizan,
Sara Long, and
Alexis Moran registered the only hits in the contest.
Jaelyn Bass tallied the only RBI for the Lady Eagles in the game.
Kendall Calloway went the distance for the Lady Eagle in the circle and registered three strikeouts through six innings.
GAME TWO
The Lady Eagles bounced back in game two and took the 4-3 victory over the Lady Bears to split the doubleheader.
After a scoreless first inning, Hinds scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Eagles scratched across another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 3-0 going into the fifth inning.
Baton Rouge scored their first run of the contest in the top of the fifth inning, but the Lady Eagles plated another run to bring the score to 4-1 going into the seventh inning. The visitor's rally fell short in the seventh as the Lady Eagles secured the 4-3 victory over BRCC.
Offensively,
Kaitlyn Papizan went 2-3 from the plate, scored a run, and registered an RBI in the contest.
Karson Lowery and
Sara Long both posted an RBI in the game by way of a sacrifice fly.
Carli Estis tallied the only stolen base for the Lady Eagles and went 1-3 from the plate.

The Lady Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, March 1st for a doubleheader against LSU-Eunice in Eunice, La. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:00 PM.
