RAYMOND, Miss. – On a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Rene T. Warren Field, the Lady Eagles picked up their first two conference wins of the season over Coahoma Community College. Hinds run-ruled the Lady Tigers by a final score of 15-2 in game one and continued their winning ways in game two with a 10-3 victory over Coahoma.
GAME ONE
The Lady Eagles jumped out on top in the first inning scoring three runs to take lead over the Coahoma. Hinds' offense was on fire scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 13-0 after two innings.
The visitor's scored their first two runs of the contest in the third, but the Lady Eagles responded in the bottom half of the frame with two runs to make the score 15-2 with the run-rule still in effect. The Lady Eagles defense held the Lady Tigers for the rest of the contest as the Lady Eagles run-ruled Coahoma 15-2 in five innings.
Presley Dease was a force at the plate against the Lady Tigers going 4-4 with a homerun her first of the season.
Melina Seiferd went 3-4 from the plate, registered three RBI, and scored two runs in the win over Coahoma.
River Boultinghouse also scored three RBI in the contest and had three hits to go perfect from the plate in the game.
Riley Myers got the start in the circle for the Lady Eagles, tossed 5.0 innings, and gave up only three hits in the game. Additionally, Myers posted five strikeouts and faced 20 batters.
GAME TWO
The Lady Eagles once again got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning scoring three runs to take the 3-0 lead. Hinds tacked on six additional runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the 9-0 commanding lead after two complete innings.
The visitors scratched across three runs in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 9-3. Hinds did not let up as they scored a run in the fourth inning to make the score 10-3. Neither team scored for the rest of the contest as the Lady Eagles picked up the 10-3 victory and secure the doubleheader sweep over Coahoma.
Presley Dease was dominate yet again for the Lady Eagles as she went 2-4 from the plate and hit her second homerun on the day.
Melina Seiferd and
Carli Estis also had homeruns in the contest as the Lady Eagles hit four homeruns in the doubleheader sweep.
Kaitlyn Papizan had multiple RBI in the game, while
Jaelyn Bass added an RBI in game two.
