Lady Eagles Split Doubleheader with #4 Pearl River CC

RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Softball team picked up a doubleheader split against #4 Pearl River Community College on Tuesday at Rene T. Warren Field. With the split, the Lady Eagles improve to 17-11 overall and 6-4 in MACCC play.
 
GAME ONE
In the first game of the doubleheader, Taylor Nelson gave the Lady Eagles the early advantage when she hit a solo homer in the bottom of the first inning. It was a pitcher's duel for the rest of the contest as neither team scored another run. Lily Ochodnicky was the only other player for Hinds to register a hit and it was a double, however the Lady Eagles could not get her around to score. Hinds took game one of the double header 1-0.
 
Ellie Williamson and Melissa Lopera had a stolen base apiece and Destiny Crosby delivered a sac bunt in the 1-0 victory over #4 PRCC. Kyleigh Forsyth was dominant in the circle for the Lady Eagles as she gave up 0 runs, six hits, struck out four batters, and went the distance for Hinds.
 
GAME TWO
In the second game of the doubleheader, PRCC scored one in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead after one inning of play. After a scoreless second inning, the Wildcats plated three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth to take the 6-0 lead. The Lady Eagles began a rally and scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally fell short as the Wildcats took game two 6-3. 
 
Alexis Moran and Mackenzie Kelly each had a XBH for the Lady Eagles in the contest. Additionally, Moran registered two RBI and laid down a sac bunt for Hinds. Emily Vicknair got the start in the circle for Hinds, went three innings, and gave up eight hits. Emily Vines came in relief and pitched the rest of the contest. Vines only gave up three hits in four innings and earned three strikeouts in the loss.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Eagles will return to action on Friday, March 29 against #11 Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, MS. First pitch of the double header is set for 2 PM.
