GAINSVILLE, Fla. – Across the two-day NJCAA Indoor National Championships, Hinds Track & Field earned two National Championships, 12 All-American honors, finished 14
th in the nation on the men's side, and 16
th in the nation on the women's side.
On the women's side,
La'Nica Locker earned a National Championship in the 200m dash, clocking a time of 23.59 to win the event. The 4x400m Relay made up of
Twyshanna Huie,
Caydence Brewer,
T'Kyla Bennett, and
Shaneil Johnson posted a time of 3:47.00, good enough for a fifth-place finish.
On the men's side,
Kareem Nazim won a National Championship in the men's pole vault after his jump of 16' 0.5" to tally 10 points for the Men's Track & Field team.
Ayomide Oyetunji grabbed All-American status in two events for the Eagles. Oyetunji competed in the 60m dash and clocked a time of 6.73, which was a third-place finish. Additionally, he clocked a time of 21.18 in the 200m dash for a fifth-place finish.
Frank Bradley-Reed,
Braylin Demars,
Rinaldo Moore, and
Steven Johnson made up the 4x400m relay team for the Eagles and finished with a time of 3:14.47
The Hinds Track & Field team will now turn its attention to the outdoor season, which will begin on March 15 at the Jim Mize Relays. The meet will be hosted by Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La.
