RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Softball team picked up a pair of MACCC wins on Saturday, taking down MDCC 9-1 in run-rule fashion and 9-4 in the second game of the doubleheader at Rene T. Warren Field. The Lady Eagles improve to 27-11 overall and 16-4 in conference play.
The Lady Eagles got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning by scoring four runs to take the 4-0 advantage. Hinds grabbed another run in the bottom of the second and scored three runs in the bottom of the third to take the 8-0 commanding lead after three innings of play. After a scoreless fourth inning, the visitors scored their first run of the contest in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 8-1. The Lady Trojans shutdown Hinds in the bottom of the fifth inning to move to the sixth inning with the lady Eagles having the 7-1 lead.
Shelby Allen got the walk off in run-rule fashion as the Lady Eagles grabbed the 9-1 victory in six innings.
As a team the Lady Eagles scored nine runs on 17 hits and did no commit an error in the contest. Individually,
Ellie Williamson went 3-for-4 from the plate and scored a run in the game.

Sara Long, and
Alexis Moran tallied two hits apiece in the contest. Multiple Lady Eagles grabbed a hit in the contest.
Kyleigh Forsyth got the start in the circle for the Lady Eagles and went the distance. She only allowed three hits, one unearned run, and stuck out four batters in the contest.
The Lady Eagles picked up from where they left off scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early advantage in the second game of the doubleheader. Hinds posted two more runs in the bottom of the second inning to take the commanding 7-0 lead after two innings. After a scoreless third inning, Hinds drove in two additional runs to make the score 9-0 going into the fifth inning. The Lady Trojans prevented the run-rule in the top of the fifth inning by scoring two runs to bring the score to 9-2. MDCC tacked on a run in the sixth and a run in the seventh, but the Lady Eagles took the 9-4 victory in game two and sealed the doubleheader sweep.
As a team, the Lady Eagles scored nine runs on 10 hits and did not commit an error in game two of the doubleheader.
Taylor Nelson led the Lady Eagles with a couple of hits and had three RBI.
Sara Long posted a bases-clearing double in the game.
Emily Vines got the start in the circle and went four innings and only gave up two hits in the contest.
Emily Vicknair came in relief and went the rest of the way for the Lady Eagles
The Lady Eagles will return to action on April 17th against Mississippi Gulf Coast CC in Perkinston. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3 PM.
