RAYMOND, Miss. - The Hinds Community College Men's Soccer teams remained undefeated on the year as they grabbed a 5-2 victory over East Mississippi CC on Tuesday at Tom Shepherd Field. With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-0-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in conference play.
The Lions score the first goal of the contest, but Oscar Tovar found the back of the net in the 25th minute to level the score. Hinds scored another goal in the 41st minute to take the lead going into the halftime break.
Within 30 seconds of kickoff in the second half, the match was delayed due to lightning. The delay lasted for about a hour and teams returned to the field to resume the contest. The Eagles outscored the Lions 3-1 in the second half to earn the 5-2 victory over East Mississippi CC.
Cody Barnett once again led all goal scorers with two goals on the night. Oscar Tovar,
Logan Cole, and
Keaton Cole all scored in the contest. Reigning NJCAA Goal Keeper of the Week,
Elliot Duffy, play 80 minutes in goal for the Eagles and tallied 4 saves in the match.
Xavier Ezell played the last 10 minutes of the contest in goal ang grabbed two saves.
Hinds will return to action on Friday when they travel to Jones College for a top 15 matchup in Ellisville. Kickoff with the Bobcats is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
