BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Hinds Track & Field team competed well at the Samford Bulldog Open on Saturday at the Birmingham Metro CrossPlex in Birmingham.
On the women's side,
La'Nica Locker competed in the 200 Meters and crossed the finish line first with a time of 23.99.
Queen Usunobun also competed in the 200 Meters and finished at the 24.45 mark, while
Trinity Montgomery completed the race at 24.70. Queen crossed the finish line first for Hinds in the 400 Meters with a time of 56.49. Seanna Gaye-Leslie competed in the 60 Meters Hurdles and finished in 6
th place. Quina Pierce competed in the High Jump and earned a mark of 1.50m (4'11"). The 4x400m relay team made up of
Caydence Brewer,
T'Kyla Bennett,
Queen Usunobun, and
Twyshanna Huie had another excellent performance coming in second place behind a strong University of Memphis relay team.
On the men's side,
Raheem Pinnock led the charge individually earning a first-place finish in the 60 Meters and 200 Meters.
Antoine Spillman also competed in the 60 Meters and clocked a time of 6.83, good enough for a third-place finish. Additionally, Spillman came in second place behind Pinnock in the 200 Meters, which
Craig Carson earned a time of 22.00.
Anthony Collins and
Shadane Smith competed in the 400 Meters and finished with a time of 48.71 and 49.82 respectively.
Tavon Davis once again earned a first-place finish in the 800 Meters and Avery Abram had a mark of 2.09m (6'10.25") in the High Jump. The 4x400 Relay made up of
Anthony Collins,
Craig Carson,
Tavon Davis, and
Shadane Smith clocked a time of 3:14.19, which was a second place finish behind powerhouse University of Memphis.
Hinds will wrap up the indoor regular season at the LSU Twilight on February 21st, which will be a great final test before the postseason.
