RAYMOND, Miss. - The Hinds Community College Track & Field team will open the 2026 indoor season on Saturday, January 17, at the Samford Bulldog Open, hosted at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
The meet will provide the first competitive action of the season for many Hinds freshmen, as several newcomers are set to make their collegiate debuts across a variety of events while beginning their indoor campaigns.
On the women's side, returning sophomores Queen Usunobun and Lania McDonald will kick off the season in the 400-meter dash, adding experience and leadership to the lineup.
The men's team will feature a talented group of freshmen, along with key returning sophomores making their season debut, including Matthew Sullivan (60-meter hurdles), Jayval Wright (60-meter dash), and Craig Carson and Robert Turner in the 400-meter dash.
The Samford Bulldog Open will serve as an early-season benchmark for the program, offering an opportunity to evaluate depth, sharpen race execution, and set the tone for the remainder of the indoor season.
