UTICA, Miss. - The Hinds Community College Women's Basketball team delivered a strong fourth-quarter performance to secure an 82–73 victory over Northeast Mississippi Community College on February 16 inside J.D. Boyd Gymnasium.
Trailing 60–50 entering the final period, the Lady Bulldogs flipped the momentum with a dominant 32-point fourth quarter, shooting an impressive 57 percent from the field in the frame. Hinds finished the night shooting 45.3 percent overall and knocked down 19-of-28 free throws to seal the win.
Mariah Heard led the charge offensively with 25 points and went 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.
Jordyn Ford added 21 points and six rebounds, while
Hannah Moore controlled the paint with a double-double effort of 13 rebounds and five assists to go along with five points.
Kennedy Bush provided a spark from the bench with 16 points, including a pair of three-pointers. The Lady Bulldogs also capitalized on turnovers, converting them into 35 points.
After a strong first quarter, Hinds gained the early edge, but Northeast battled back and led after three quarters. However, the Lady Bulldogs' defensive intensity and efficient offense down the stretch made the difference. With the victory, Hinds continues to build momentum late in the season.
Hinds will return to action on Thursday, February 19
th against Northwest Mississippi CC in Senatobia. Tipoff is set for 5:30 PM.
