RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Softball team delivered a dominant performance at home on February 21, sweeping Southeast Arkansas College in convincing fashion with an 8-0 shutout in game one and a 14-5 run-rule victory in game two. With the sweep, the Lady Eagles move to 12-3 overall.
GAME ONE
Hinds set the tone early and never looked back in the opener, plating runs in four of the five innings en route to the 8-0 victory.
Addison Galloway sparked the offense at the top of the lineup, while
Aubrie Carter and
Alyx Hall each drove in runs to keep pressure on the SEARK defense.
Emma Hudson turned in a big performance at the plate, tallying two hits and an RBI, and
Jalia McDaniel added a key RBI as the Lady Eagles racked up nine hits as a team.
In the circle,
Jazmin Robertson was in complete control. The right-hander tossed a five-inning shutout, allowing just six hits while striking out three batters. Robertson worked efficiently throughout the afternoon, stranding runners and shutting down any potential rally attempts from Southeast Arkansas.
GAME TWO
The Hinds defense backed her up with clean, steady play to secure the shutout victory. The Lady Eagles' bats stayed hot in game two, exploding for 14 runs on 13 hits to complete the sweep.
Hinds wasted no time getting started, scoring three runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with a four-run third and another four-run fourth inning.
Jalia McDaniel led the charge with a huge day at the plate, scoring four runs and driving in one.
Alyx Hall powered the offense with a home run and two RBIs, while
Emma Hudson delivered three RBIs as part of a multi-hit performance.
Addison Galloway continued her strong day with two hits and an RBI, and
Aubrie Carter added a pair of hits and an RBI of her own.
The Lady Eagles were aggressive on the basepaths, swiping multiple bags and constantly applying pressure.
In the circle,
Mattie Gibson earned the win, striking out six over three innings of work.
Abigail McLean provided solid relief to close out the game and secure the 14-5 run-rule victory.
Hinds will return to action on Friday, February 27 against Lamar State College at Rene T. Warren Field. First pitch of the double header is set for 1 PM.
