Tom Shepherd Field is the home field for the nationally renowned men's and women's soccer teams at Hinds. The field is named after Tom Shepherd, founder and longtime head coach of the men's soccer program at Hinds Community College.
Tom Shepherd Field has proven to be a nightmare for opponents, as both Hinds teams have won over 80 percent of their games at the field. Shepherd Field has a lighting system that was built in 1999, which allows for night games and practices.
The soccer program received a major upgrade in 2007, as new dugouts were built along the sideline area. This allows the players protection on rainy days and evenings.
A new practice field has also been built directly beside Tom Shepherd Field to allow for more space and the ability to keep the game field in peak condition.
