The Bulldogs men's basketball team traveled to Perkinston on Monday night looking to go 2-0 in conference play, but were unsuccessful in doing so, dropping a 96-82 decision to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Trevis Thomas of Edwards, a sophomore guard, led all scorers on Monday with 33 points.
Hinds is now 2-7 overall and 1-1 in the South division.
The Bulldogs won the South division opener in thrilling fashion on Thursday, Dec. 1, defeating Jones County Junior College, 82-80, on a last-second three pointer by Dominique Brown.
Brown, a freshman guard and Vicksburg native, drilled a bomb from about 23 feet as time expired to give the Bulldogs the victory.
Jones had a 16-point lead on Hinds with just over six minutes left, but the Bulldogs found a way to come back and claim the victory.
Carlo McDonald of Florence, a freshman guard, led all scorers with 25 points on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs had been out-of-conference in the two games prior to, as they were defeated twice by Delgado (La.) Community College. Hinds fell to the Dolphins, 83-80 in OT on Nov. 28 and 80-67, on Nov. 21.
