Bulldogs pick up crucial victory over East Central

The men's basketball team at Hinds Community College picked up a pivotal win over South division rival East Central Community College on Thursday night, defeating the host Warriors, 84-77.

The win moved the Bulldogs to 12-7 overall and 3-5 in South division play with four regular season games remaining.

Dominique Brown (Vicksburg) had a monster night on Thursday, finishing with 24 points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, Hinds fell, 80-70, at the hands of Pearl River Community College. Marcus Hurn (Meridian) had a stellar all-around game, scoring 17 points, pulling down eight rebounds, dishing out three assists, and picking up a steal and a blocked shot.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs came to town on Monday, Jan. 28, and unfortunately came away from Utica with a resounding 67-47 victory over Hinds. Josh Gaskin (Vicksburg) was the lone double-digit scorer for Hinds on the night, scoring 10 points. He also had five rebounds, four assists, two steals and one blocked shot.

The Bulldogs were able to collect a crucial win on the road at Co-Lin Community College on Thursday, Jan. 24, defeating the Wolves, 76-70. Four Bulldogs scored in double-digits on the night, led by Greg Lee (Jackson) and Hurn, who both finished with 16 points.

Hinds will play again on Monday, hosting Jones County Junior College in an 8 p.m. tipoff in Utica.
