Bulldogs drop close one to Wolves

The men's basketball team at Hinds was narrowly defeated by Co-Lin Community College, 74-68 on Thursday evening at J.D. Boyd Gym in Utica.

Derrick Little (Yazoo City) was the leading scorer for Hinds against Co-Lin, finishing with 13 points. The freshman guard also dished out six assists and finished with three rebounds and two steals.

Dela Mayers (Oak Grove, La.) and LaDarrius Drain (Yazoo City) each finished with 13 points in Thursday's slim loss.

Mayers had a night to remember on Tuesday, despite the Bulldogs losing 91-76 to Southwest Community College. The sophomore forward finished with 34 points, five rebounds, three blocked shots, two assists and one steal to lead Hinds (2-13 overall and 1-5 in the South).

Rod Taylor (Brandon) led all scorers with 22 points in last Thursday's 102-82 loss to Jones County Junior College in Utica. He also led both teams with four steals on the night.

The Bulldogs also dropped a heartbreaker on Monday, Jan. 13 in Decatur, falling 85-82 to East Central Community College.

Taylor was once again the top scorer on the evening, finishing with 25 points and pacing the Hinds offense.

Hinds will hit the hardwood again on Monday night, heading down to Perkinston to take on Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
