Bulldogs see 2013-2014 campaign come to a close

The Hinds Community College men's basketball team came to a close recently in a narrow 71-67 loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at home in Utica.

The loss was a tough pill to swallow, as the Bulldogs entered the contest having won of their last five games, including a 69-67 win over Co-Lin Community College in the next-to-last game of the 2013-2014 season.

Marvin Brown (Darrow, La.) wrapped up his sophomore season on a fine note against Gulf Coast, leading the team in points scored (18) and rebounds (eight).

Derrick Little (Yazoo City) had a solid night as well, scoring 14 points and dishing out four assists, along with grabbing two steals and two rebounds.

Clayton Tate (Terry) led the Bulldogs in scoring in the narrow victory over Co-Lin, as the freshman guard poured in 18 points on 3-6 shooting from behind the three-point line.

Dela Mayers (Oak Grove, La.) finished the Co-Lin win in double digits, scoring 14 points and hauling in 11 rebounds.

LaDarrius Drain (Yazoo City) finished the 2013-2014 season by leading Hinds in scoring (12.2 points per game), while Mayers paced the Bulldogs in rebounds per game (6.7) and blocks per game (1.3), while finishing second on the team in scoring (12.0 points per game).
