Bulldogs beat East Central for second straight South win

The men's basketball team at Hinds Community College picked up their second consecutive South division victory on Tuesday night in Utica, defeating East Central Community College, 58-52.

The win moved the Bulldogs to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the South division.

LaDarrius Drain (Yazoo City) led Hinds offensively in Tuesday night's win, as he finished with a team leading 14 points, as well as pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out an assist.

Edward Walker (Clinton) had 12 points and nine rebounds, while Clayton Tate (Terry) ended the night with 11 points and seven rebounds to help Hinds to the victory.

The first of the two wins came on Thursday, Jan. 15 when the Bulldogs defeated Meridian Community College, 67-55, in Utica.

Drain had another big night in the win over the Eagles, as the sophomore guard had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Corey McLaurin (Florence) and Kaleb Williams (Edwards) had 15 points and 10 points, respectively, and McLaurin keyed the win with seven assists.

Hinds traveled to Poplarville on Monday, Jan. 12 and came away with a 78-61 loss.

Williams led the way with 18 points and also dished out two assists. Tate added 16 points in the defeat.

Hinds will be back in Utica on Thursday night, playing host to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
