Co-Lin downs Hinds 41-27 in mistake-ridden game

WESSON- A game marred by penalties and turnovers was too much for Hinds to overcome  Thursday evening (Oct. 11), as the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves downed the Hinds Community College Eagles 41-27.

The first half featured a wild west shootout where all 68 points in the game were scored while the second half was a defensive deadlock where neither team managed to put any points on the board.

The Eagles were led offensively by another astounding performance from freshman running back Don Ragsdale (Pisgah). Ragsdale rushed 24 times for 214 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Additionally, Ragsdale made an incredible grab leaping in the end zone to haul in a two-point conversation. Freshman wide receiver Javon Antonio (Laplace, LA) also had a nice game hauling in 6 receptions for 113 yards.

On defense, sophomore defensive end Ivin White Jr. (Port Gibson) imposed his will as he collected three sacks in the game.

Overall, Hinds offense ran 83 plays for 471 yards opposed to Co-Lin who ran 56 plays for 342 yards. Hinds collected 29 first downs against Co-Lin's 13 first downs.

Hinds however struggled in the penalty category as they were flagged 13 times for 135 yards. Furthermore, Hinds turned the ball over four times including two interceptions, a muffed punt, and a fumble. Additionally, Hinds had a punt blocked that was returned for a touchdown and missed two extra points.

The loss gives Hinds a 4-3 overall record and a 2-2 record in the MACJC South Division.

The Eagles will square off against East Central Community College next Thursday, October 18 at 7 p.m. at home on Gene Murphy field at Joe Renfroe Stadium. The game against ECCC will be the Eagles' homecoming game.
