RAYMOND – Playoffs are up for grabs this evening as Hinds Community College welcomes Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to Joe Renfroe Stadium for Sophomore Night. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on Gene Murphy Field.
This game marks the fifth and final home game that Hinds will host this season. In addition to Sophomore Night, this game is also occurring on Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
Week Seven
In week seven, both teams are coming off large-margin wins. The Bulldogs of Gulf Coast defeated East Central Community College 35-0 on Saturday and the Eagles of Hinds blew-out Itawamba 34-7 on the road in Fulton.

This matchup between Gulf Coast and hinds will be the 86
th meeting with Gulf Coast holding a 50-34-1 lead in the series.
The first meeting dates back 1926, where the Bulldogs edged out Hinds Junior College 6-3.
Last Meeting
Hinds came out on top 42-37 in the most recent meeting between these two teams. The Eagles overcame 28 points to knock off then fifth-ranked Gulf Coast in 2021. Hinds, Gulf Coast and Jones would all eventually tie for first place in the South Division.

Hinds and Gulf Coast are tied for second in the MACCC South Division. A win tonight for either team virtually seals a playoff berth.

Breast Cancer Awareness Night
The final home game of the 2022 season against Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on October 20 will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night. We encourage all fans to wear pink to the game, and the first 1,000 fans will get a pink pom-pom. In addition, Hinds Athletics will be decorating the windows of Mayo Field House with ribbons that will include names of those who have gone through Breast Cancer. These ribbons will be moved from the field house to Joe Renfroe Stadium's ticket plaza on gameday. We encourage anyone that wishes to recognize a friend or family member to email

Sophomore Night
38 sophomores from the Eagle football team will be recognized before the game. Sophomores from the cheer team, band and Hi-Steppers will also be recognized throughout the night.
