2/15/2022 3:35:00 PM

Box Score UTICA – The Hinds Community College men's basketball team picked up a big conference win Monday evening when they defeated Jones College 93-90 in overtime.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs was sophomore forward Jalen Myers (Madison, Ala.), who recorded his first triple double of the season with 20 points, 22 rebounds and 10 assists.

Sophomore guard Deandre Buggage (Gray, La.) contributed 18 points and was six of ten from beyond the arc, one of which came in the final seconds to force overtime. Freshman guard Jamaal Esco (Jackson) recorded his first double double in a Bulldog uniform, scoring 11 points and recording 10 assists. Sophomore guards Kyle Hayman (Monroe, La.) and Treylan Smith (Petal) also both saw double digits in scoring.

Coming off the bench and performing well was Brodrick Thompson Jr. (McComb), who finished with 16 points and pulled down eight boards.

Head coach Jonathan Nevol was excited about the win.

"It was a great, full-team effort tonight," Nevol said. "Jalen (Myers) played lights out. We tried to keep their two best players in check the whole night and Kyle (Hayman) and Esco did that. I'm especially excited for Deandre (Buggage) and Esco! They are the smallest guys on the court and they made the clutch plays at the end to help us win. Treylan (Smith) also made some big shots for us. Brodrick (Thompson Jr.) came off the bench with all the right energy to impact the game. I can't be prouder of them. Big win!"

The Bulldogs are back in action this Thurdsay when they head to Moorhead to take on Mississippi Delta Community College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
