HATTIESBURG – Hinds Community College Track and Field started out their 2022 outdoor season with a bang in Hattiesburg at the Southern Miss Invitation Friday and Saturday. Similar to the start of indoor season, the Eagles boasted nine individual and two relay National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) qualifiers.
Head coach
Reginald Dillon is pleased with his team's performance but wants them to focus on the long season ahead.
"I'm pleased with how we did in the first outdoor meet," Dillon said. "We got three NJCAA National Leaders. We've got to correct some things on the men's relays."
The three NJCAA leaders after the first outdoor meet include
Breanna Brown-Marshall (Birmingham, Ala.) in the high jump,
Jerricka Ambus (Brandon) in the 100-meter hurdles and the women's 4x100-meter relay team. That relay team consists of
Diandrenique Gaines (Natchez),
Briana Charles (Guyana),
Jerricka Ambus and
Brooke Gray (Brighton, MI).
