CLARKSDALE, Miss. – The No. 17 ranked Hinds Community College Baseball team picked up a sweep over Coahoma Community College on the road in MACCC action. In game one, the Eagles earned the 12-7 victory and dominated the Tigers in the second contest 22-2. With the sweep, the Eagles improve to 16-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
GAME ONE
Evan McCarthy got the scoring started in the top of the second inning after he scored from a dropped third strike to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead. After an RBI single from
Dylan Coleman and a sacrifice fly from
Tyler Janos, the Eagles extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.
Hinds pushed across three insurance runs in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 6-0. The hosts scored their first run of the contest in the bottom of the fourth inning after an RBI single to right field.
After a scoreless fifth inning, the Eagles plate three runs in the sixth to make the score 9-1. Hinds scratched across another run in the top of the seventh, but Coahoma scores five in the bottom of the frame to bring the score to 10-6 after seven complete innings. After a scoreless eighth inning each team scored in the ninth inning, but the Eagles secured the 12-7 victory over the Tigers in game one.
Offensively,
Dylan Coleman led the Eagles going 3-5 from the plate and scored three runs.
Ashton Johnson went 3-6 and totaled two RBI in the contest.
Clay Benson and
Tyler Janos were the other two Eagles with multiple RBI in the game.
Cole Smith got the start on the mound for Hinds and pitched a complete game. Smith went the distance and struck out five batters in the contest.
GAME TWO
The Eagles dominated this contest from the first pitch to the last pitch.
Connor Chisolm stole home to plate the first run of the contest in the top of the first inning.
Elijah Thompson scored the second run of the contest in the top of the second inning after a single up the middle, but the Tiger platted their first run of the game in the bottom half of the frame to make the score 2-1.
The Eagles' offensive exploded for 15 runs in the top of the third inning to take a 17-1 lead. Hinds added a run in the fourth and fifth inning to bring the score to 19-1. The Eagles continued to dominate the game scoring three runs in the top of the sixth inning as the Eagles extended the lead to 22-1. The Tigers scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Hinds earned the 22-2 victory and secure the sweep over Coahoma.
Dylan Coleman led the way for the Eagles going 4-4 from the plate and tallied six RBI.

Spencer Wilson, and
Elijah Thompson had multiple RBI in the game. Every hitter in the Eagles' starting lineup registered a hit in the contest.
Matthew Azordegan got the start and the win on the mound for the Eagles. Azordegan tossed 4.0 innings, earned four strikeouts, and did not give up an earned run in the game. Benj Webb,

Grant Holmes all pitched an inning for the Eagles in the 22-2 victory over the Tigers.

The Eagles will return to action against East Central Community College on Tuesday, March 21st in Decatur, Miss. in MACCC action. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 PM.
