Men’s Soccer Cruises to 3-0 Win Over Warriors in Season Opener

DECATUR, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Men's Soccer team cruised to an impressive 3-0 victory over East Central Community College on Friday in the 2023 season opener. 
 
The Eagles got off to an impressive start when Jedin Lee found the back of the nest to score the Eagles first goal on the season to make the score 1-0 in the 20th minute.
 
Nine minutes later, Ryan McQueen scored his first goal on the season bring the score to 2-0. Hinds' defense stepped up and did not let the Warriors capture a goal before the halftime break.
 
Coming out of intermission, Tony King pressed the Warriors' backline to find the back of the net as the Eagles took a commanding 3-0 advantage. Hinds' defense held strong for the rest of the match to shut out the Warriors 3-0 in non-conference play.
 
Captain João Pereira posted all three assists on the goals in the match, while Goalkeeper Younes Ezzaim played all 90 minutes and totaled five saves.
 
The Eagles will return to the field on Thursday, August 24 against Meridian Community College for the Home Opener in Raymond, MS. Due to damage to the lighting system at Tom Shepherd Field, the game is not scheduled for 5:00 PM.
