RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community Women's Soccer team defeated the Millsaps College Majors by a final score of 3-2 in Jackson on Friday evening. With the win, the Lady Eagles improve to 1-1 overall.
Melisa Chow Juardo scored her goal of the season in the 9
th minute to give the Lady Eagles the 1-0 advantage over the Lady Majors. Millsaps leveled the contest in the 38
th minute, but Chow scored her second goal of the match to push the Lady Eagles lead to 2-1.
Just before the halftime break,
Ana Santos Scored her second goal of the season as Hinds took the 3-1 lead going into the halftime break.
Millsaps scored a goal late in the second half, but the Lady Eagles' defense held strong to grab the 3-2 victory and earn their first win of the season.
As a team, the Lady Eagles outshot the Lady Majors 13-8 with
Melisa Chow Jurado leading the way with two goals and three shots on goal.
Ana Santos also had three shots on goal and registered a goal in the contest. Goalkeeper
Ana Camila Hernandez Lopez tallied two saves and played all 90 minutes in goal.
The Lady Eagles will return to the field on Tuesday, September 5 against the Belhaven University Blazers in Jackson at 4:30 PM.
