UTICA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Women's Basketball team picked up a huge 62-40 victory over Jones College last Thursday in their Conference Opener inside J.D. Boyd Gymnasium. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improve to 6-5 overall and 1-0 in MACCC play.
The Lady Bulldogs shot well from the floor from the opening tip as they led the Bobcats 17-10 of the first 10 minutes of play. Hinds continued to keep their foot on the accelerator as Jones only scored two points in the second quarter. At the halftime break, Hinds led Jones 32-12.
Hinds scored 15 points apiece in the third and fourth quarters to come away with the 62-40 victory over Jones College to go 1-0 in conference play on the year.
Jayiah Ransom led all scorers with 20 points went 6-for-7 from beyond the arc.
Lamaria Jones was the other Lady Bulldog to score in double-digits (11 points) and had a team-high seven rebounds.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to action on Monday, January 22 against the Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojans in Moorhead for their second conference match of the season. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
