UTICA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Women's Basketball team sealed their second straight win of the season as they outlasted Delgado CC 66-55 this past Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improves to 4-4 on the season with two games remaining until MACCC play.
Hinds looked to take control from the opening tip as they led 19-13 after the first quarter of play. The Lady Bull dogs continued to shoot well from the floor to take the 40-25 advantage into the halftime break.
Coming out of the halftime break, Hinds once again was able to extend their lead to 16 points, which was the largest of the contest. The Lady Bulldogs ended the third quarter with a 55-39 advantage over the Lady Dolphins. Hinds went on the to seal the first victory of 2024 with a 66-55 win over Delgado in non-conference play.
Lamaria Jones led all scorers with 22 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double on the season.
Kimiyah Williams came off of the bench and gave the Lady Bulldogs 11 points in the victory.
Chasity Woodard and jayiah Ransom totated nine points, while
Jaydia Morris finished the game with eight points. To round out the scoring was
Tra'Shaylah Wilson with three points,
Brooklyn Harris with two points, and
D'nara Barton finished the game with a couple of points.
Hinds will return to action on January 11 against Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
