PERKINSTON, Miss. – The Hinds Community College football team suffered a 56-14 defeat against #5 ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Thursday night at A.L May Memorial Stadium.
In the opening drive of the contest,
Jabari Watson used 10 plays to go 78 yards and concluded the drive with a touchdown pass to
Tyrell Pollard to take the 7-0 lead. MGCCC quickly capitalized to even the score up at 7 with 7:33 remaining in the first quarter. Both teams exchanged possessions as the score remained 7-7 after the first 15 minutes of play.
Jabari Watson found
Tyrell Pollard in the endzone again to give the Eagles the 14-7 advantage early in the second quarter. Hinds stalled for the rest of the second quarter as the Bulldogs scored 34 unanswered points to go into the halftime break with the 41-14 lead.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Bulldogs continued to keep their foot on the gas and score 15 more points in the fourth quarter to take the 56-14 victory over Hinds in the Season Finale.
Offensively,
Jabari Watson led the passing and rushing attack for Hinds this contest totaling 130 passing yards and 58 rushing yards.
Tyrell Pollard led the receiving corps with three catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles.
Trey Henderson and
Nehemiah Taylor also had three catches for Hinds for 43 and 28 yards respectively.
Defensively,
William Harry led the Eagles with six total tackles and 1.5 TFL, while
Walter Owens grabbed five tackles and had the only interception for the Eagles in the contest.
TJ Kelly also totaled five tackles and earned 0.5 TFL.
Tanner Hollingsworth was in charge of the kicking duties for Hinds and finished with seven puts for 239 yards with his longest being 45 yards.
Trey Henderson had four kickoff returns for 103 yards, while
RJ Hall finished with 99 yards on four returns.
Hinds concluded the season with a 2-7 record overall and went 2-5 in conference play.
