UTICA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Men's Basketball team impressed in their home opener on Saturday afternoon taking down #RV Itawamba CC 87-79 behind a strong performance by
Jakobe Singleton.
Hinds finished the game with four scorers in double figures as returning players and new faces combined for an eight-point victory. It was a back-and-forth affair as both teams exchanged buckets in the opening half, but Hinds led 46-35 at the halftime break. Itawamba outscored the Bulldogs 44-41 in the second half, but Hinds' 1
st half performance was enough to lift them to an 87-79 victory over #RV Itawamba CC
Jakobe led all scorers with 37 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Additionally, he shot 11-16 from the floor, 3-5 from behind the arc, 12-14 from the charity stripe, and had a team-high four blocks.
Isaac Ratliff finished the contest with 14 points, while
Daveon Henry had 13 points.
Marquis Williams was the last Bulldog to score double figures with 10 points, while
Austin Ratliff totaled nine points for Hinds. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs was
Caleb Howard and
Jakobey Johnson who score two points apiece.
Hinds will return to action on Monday, November 11 against Mississippi Delta CC in Moorhead. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
