UTICA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Women's Basketball team picked up a 73-60 victory over Delgado CC in their Home Opener on Thursday evening. With the win, the lady bulldogs improve to 2-1 overall to open the season.
Hinds opened the scoring in the contest and had the 19-18 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play. The Lady Bulldogs continued to score and outscored their opposition 17-13 in the second frame and took the 36-31 lead going into the halftime break.
Hinds did let off the accelerator in the third quarter as they scored 21 points to push the advantage to 57-44 to take the double-digit lead into the final quarter of play. The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Dolphins each scored 16 points in the fourth quarter, but Hinds prevailed with the 73-60 win over Delgado.
Myla Harbor led all scorers with 16 points, while Arianna Kimm finished the contest with a double-double (11 points, 14 rebounds).
Jaliah Pree also registered a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Myan Bartholemy concluded ethe game with eight points, while
Judea Hastings totaled seven points.
Lamaria Jones scored six points in the home opener, while sophomore
Jaydia Morris finished the game with five points.
Rodrianna Hall and
Hannah Moore each totaled four points, while Jesi Jenkins rounded out the scoring with two points.
Hinds will return to action on Monday, November 11th against Mississippi Delta CC in Moorhead. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
