UTICA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Men's Basketball team continued its hot streak on Monday, taking down Itawamba in a huge conference matchup in J.D. Boyd Gymnasium. With the win, the Bulldogs move to 9-14 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Bulldogs and Indians exchanged buckets and had multiple lead changes in the first half. The visitors held the 36-34 advantage over the Bulldogs to go into the halftime break. The Bulldogs found an offensive spark in the final 20 minutes of play outscoring Itawamba 55-46. The Bulldogs extended the lead to double-digits late in the contest, but the Bulldogs went on to capture the 89-82 victory over the Indians.
All five starters for Hinds scored double-digit points in the 89-82 win over Itawamba.
Jakobe Singleton led the charge with 27 points, went 12-13 from the floor, and had the team-high nine rebounds in the contest.
Dion Perkins finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field and was perfect from the charity stripe.
Kobe Jones totaled 14 points, while
Edarious Williams finished the contest with 12 points.
Joseph Dupree finished the game with 10 points and had the team-high seven assists. Rounding out the scoring for the Bulldogs was Joshua lemon with five points and
Marquis Williams with two points.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday, February 15
th against the Meridian CC Eagles in Meridian, MS. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 PM
