Hinds Baseball Picks Up Another Doubleheader Sweep to Push Winning Streak to Six Games

RAYMOND, Miss.   –  The Hinds Community College Baseball team picked up two non-conference victories against Marion Military Institute on Tuesday afternoon inside Joe G. Moss Field. The Eagles are currently riding out a six-game winning streak with three consecutive doubleheader sweeps. With the sweep, the Eagles improve to 7-2 on the season.

GAME ONE

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Eagles' and Tigers' bats were cold, as neither team scored in the first four innings of play. The visitors got on the board first in the top of the fifth inning. Hinds scored two runs late, one in the seventh and one in the eighth to take the game to the ninth inning with the Eagles leading 2-1. Hinds defeated MMI 2-1 to take game one of the doubleheader.

Cameron Hill and Kaleb Lipscomb were the only two Eagles to have multiple hits in the contest. Diego Maddox, Thomas Marsala, and Brice Ainsworth posted a hit in game one of the doubleheader. Everett Thompson got the start on the mound and earned the no-decision. Grant Holmes came in relief, faced seven batters, and did not give up a run. Tristan Wilbanks worked the seventh and eighth and picked up the win on the bump for the Eagles. Dawson Muenzenmay closed the game out after facing four batters in the ninth.

GAME TWO

In game two of the doubleheader, the visitors scored the first two runs, but the Eagles cut the deficit to one after scoring in the bottom half of the first inning. MMI went cold for the rest of the contest, as they did not score for the rest of the game. Hinds scored two in the second, four in the third, one in the fourth, and four in the fifth to take the commanding 12-2 lead after five complete innings. The Eagles defense held the Tiger to no runs for the rest of the game as the Eagles picked up the 12-2 victory and earned the sweep on the day.

Takorre Clowers led the charge, going 2-4 from the plate and capturing 3 RBI. Cameron Hill and Thomas Marsala had 2 RBI in the contest, while Kaleb Lipscomb went 2-2 at the plate. One of the game's highlights was on the basepath when Brice Ainsworth stole four bases. Austin Robinson got the start on the mound for the Eagles and picked up his first victory of the season. He struck out three batters through five innings of work. Cole Burton came in the sixth, faced three batters, and struck out two. Benji Webb finished the game for the Eagles, facing four batters.
