BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Hinds Community College track and Field teams competed well at the University of South Alabama Invitational on Sunday at the Birmingham Crossplex. 
 
On the women's side, La'nica Locker won the 60m with a time of 7.46 to qualify for Nationals. Additionally, she competed in the 200m and finished with a time of 24.59, good enough for a third-place finish. Twyshanna Huie finished the 400 meters with a. time of 57.10, while Caydence Brewer crossed the finish line at the 57.59 mark, good enough for an eighth-place finish. Mahria Miller was the other competitor in the 400 meters and she clocked in with a time of 59.42. Kalli Husband also competed in the 60 Hurdles and crossed the finish line at the 8.87 mark. T'kyla Bennett also competed in the 60 Hurdles and finished .11 seconds behind Husband. Twshanna Huie, Caydence Brewer, T'kyla Bennett, and Shaneil Johnson ran the 4x400 Relay and clocked a qualifying time of 3:52.08.
 
On the men's side, Ayomide Oyetunji won the 60 meters with a qualifying time of 6.76. He also ran the 200 meters and qualified with a time of 21.62. Jayden Averhart competed in the High Jump and finished with a mark of 1.96m (6'5"). Kareem Nazim was the only competitor for the Eagle in the Pole Vault and he posted a 4.62m (15' 1.75") jump.
 
Both Track & Field teams will return to action on Saturday, February 10 in the Samford Open in Birmingham, Ala. inside the Birmingham Crossplex.
