Eagles Score 25 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep Over Coahoma

RAYMOND, Miss. – The Hinds Community College baseball team put on an offensive slugfest in the doubleheader sweep against Coahoma Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles grabbed the 11-0 victory in game one and a 14-0 victory in game two to shutout the Tigers in both games.
 
GAME ONE

The first game of the day was scheduled to be a nine-inning contest, but the Eagles got it done in seven innings to grab the 11-0 run rule victory. After a scoreless first inning, the Eagles plated the first run of the contest in the bottom of the second inning. Hinds tacked on another run to make the score 2-0 after three innings.
 
The Eagles' bats began to come alive and put up a three spot to extend their lead to 5-0 after four innings of play. Hinds added an insurance run in the fifth and drove in five runs in the sixth to put the run rule in effect with the score being 11-0. The Tigers could not score in the seventh as the Eagles grabbed the 11-0 victory. 
 
Leading the charge for the Eagles was Cameron Hill who went 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored. Thomas Marsala also drove in three runs and went 2-for4 in the contest. Hill and Marsala hit a homerun in the contest. Ryan Herbison got the start on the bump for the Eagles and went the distance. Herbison only allowed six hits with no runs scored and three strikeouts. 
 
GAME TWO

In the second game of the doubleheader the Eagles bats got even hotter as they earned the 14-0 victory over the Tigers. 
 
The Eagles got the scoring party started with two runs in the first and four runs in the second to take the 6-0 lead after two innings of play. Hinds scored four more runs in the third to take the 10-0 commanding lead. The Eagles kept scoring runs and plated three insurance runs in the fourth and one run in the sixth to grab the 14-0 victory in the seven-inning contest. 
Thomas Marsala and Tyler Janos were accounted for six hits and seven runs scored together. Graham Busbea, Diego Maddox, and Kette Stavely each had a pair of hits in the blowout win over Coahoma. Brady Boykin got the start on the mound for the Eagles and pitched four innings. Additionally, he only allowed two hits and tallied seven strikeouts to grab the win for the Eagles. Everett Thompson, Carson Reed, and Connor Whatley each had an inning of work.
 
UP NEXT

The Eagles will return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 19 against #1 East Central CC for a doubleheader at Joe G. Moss Field. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.
