UTICA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Women's Basketball team picked up a conference win over East Mississippi Community College by a final score of 80-75 on Monday inside J.D. Boyd Gymnasium.
After a back and forth first quarter, the visitors held the slight three-point advantage over the Lady Bulldogs heading into the second quarter. Hinds outscored the East Miss. Lady Lions 24-18 in the second quarters to take the 44-41 lead into the halftime break.
Coming out of the halftime break, the visitors outscored Hinds 23-21 in the third quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs still led 55-54. The Lady Bulldogs only allowed the Lady Lions to score 11 points in the final frame as Hinds grabbed the 80-75 victory on Sophomore night and in the Home Finale.
Lamaria Jones led all scorers with 26 points had a team high seven rebounds. Sophomore
Jayiah Ransom and
Kimiyah Williams each scored 11 points in the win over EMCC.
Brianna Jordan was perfect on the night from the charity stripe, while
Brooklyn Harris finished the game with a team high four blocks.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to the court for one last time in the 2023-24 season with a road trip up to Goodman on Thursday to take on the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
