SCOOBA, Miss. – The Hinds Community College Women's Basketball team picked up a victory in Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) play on Tuesday, defeating East Mississippi CC 60-56.
Both teams exchanged baskets and possessions in the opening quarter of play, but the Lady Lions held on to the 16-15 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play. Hinds used a strong second quarter outscoring the Lady Lions 11-6 to take the 26-22 lead going into the halftime break.
The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Lions battled in the third quarter as Hinds moved the score to 42-39 going into the final frame. Hinds kept their foot on the accelerator and made clutch shots late in the game to earn the 60-56 victory over the Lady Lions.
Jasi Jenkins led all scorers with 14 points and
Hannah Moore posted her 1
st collegiate double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Myan Bartholemy finished the contest with 11 points and shot 4-for-6 from the charity stripe.
Myla Harbor and
Lamaria Jones grabbed 10 rebounds apiece and
Jaydia Morris added seven points in the win over East Mississippi.
Hinds will return to action on Thursday when they take on Holmes CC inside J. D. Boyd Gymnasium for Sophomore Night. Tip-off will begin at 5:30 with the festivities beginning 10 minutes prior to tip.
