Box Score UTICA, Miss. - The Hinds Community College Men's Basketball team picked up a big 85-71 victory over rival Holmes Community College Bulldogs inside J.D. Boyd Gymnasium on Thursday evening. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 16-13 overall and 8-5 in conference play.
Hinds started out quick from the floor going on a 12-2 run in the opening three minutes of play. The visitors fought back and eventually took the lead for a brief moment until the Bulldogs of Hinds regained the lead and took the 36-34 lead going into the halftime break.
Hinds caught fire in the second half outscoring Holmes 49-37 in the half to earn the 85-71 victory over the Homes Bulldogs. After the contest, the four sophomores (
Isaac Ratliff,
Jakobe Singleton,
Gabe Fajardo, and
Matthew Sandifer) were honored.
Daveon Henry led the Bulldogs with 22 points and had a team-high five steals in the contest. Sophomore
Jakobe Singleton eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark after he scored 20 points in the game.
Isaac Ratliff posted another double-double on the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Gabe Fajardo also had 14 points and shot 5-for-8 from the field.
Hinds will return to action for the final regular season contest on Monday March 3rd when they travel to Ellisville to take on Jones College. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 PM.
